Background
This is Unit of measurement viii from the teacher's guide "The French and Indian War 1754-1763." It includes one lesson programme:
- "Working with Chief Documents and Artifacts" where students read about one of fourteen principal documents or artifacts associated with the French and Indian War, and so analyze the document or antiquity.
Critical Content: Many principal documents and artifacts from the French and Indian State of war had a dramatic effect on the people involved and the grade of history. Others are more ordinary. Examining the documents and artifacts tin can tell us about the people who used them and the influence they had.

Lesson Hook/Preview

Procedure
The Investigating Primary Documents & Artifacts lesson plan
one. Download the pdf of the lesson plan which includes the teacher instructions and the action worksheets.
two. Download the student reading most the 14 primary documents and artifacts.
iii. Apply the chart on page 154 to friction match the certificate/artifact to a biography card.
4. Put students into groups. Requite each group a one of the 14 main documents/artifacts (from the student reading), the associated biography cards and the activity worksheet.
5. Using the action worksheet, have the students review the questions as they examine their chief certificate or antiquity.
6. Inquire the students what they learned near their certificate or artifact. Ask them what they learned about the people who used or made the artifact/document.

Antiquity: an detail made by humans of cultural or historical interest.
